United Nations, Question of Palestine (mockups)

In 2004, Nigel Parry was contracted by the United Nations as a consultant with the Division of Palestinian Rights. The project brief was to come up with three designs of "varying graphical intensity" for the main Question of Palestine portal, the UNISPAL documents collection subportal, and the NGO subportal. nigelparry.net consultants Nigel Parry and Ken Harper worked on the project.

VERSION 1 MOCKUPS

This low graphical intensity version adopts a classic website look, evoking an old-style document feel, to convey the time span during which the UN has followed the Question of Palestine. Features include a watermarked background image of the UN logo, consistent top navigation, and old-style fonts.

VERSION 2 MOCKUPS

This high graphical intensity version was created to mimic the logo-centric style of many existing UN.org portals. The small format offers simplified navigation and a way of delivering the various Explore the Issues sections. The design expands on subportal pages to allow for the delivery of larger amounts of information within the page.

VERSION 3 MOCKUPS

This medium graphical intensity version offers consistency of navigation and page feel. As with version 1, a variety of key and new information is available immediately upon arrival at the site, which increases the likelihood of visitors bookmarking the site. This is an online news website format, increasingly popular for information-oriented websites. While visually appealing, this design is not slow to load. A modular approach to page layout allows for switching and rotating content to highlight different areas.
